So I'm walking past 351 California Street and see that there's a new pharmacy called Dressel's getting ready to open. Now being in commercial retail real estate I figure that I should know who Dressel's is.. but I don't.So with a bit of research I find that it's just a quickly constructed movie set for Steven Soderbergh's new production Contagion - "a bio-threat thriller that examines our generation’s worst fears" - with a stellar cast including Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Elliot Gould and Lawrence "Cowboy Curtis/Morpheus" Fishburne who I had the pleasure of sharing a bottle of champagne with at Soho House in London some years ago.
But why do people so often choose San Francisco as the setting for apocalyptic stories? Nevermind, we appreciate the injection of several millions movie-making dollars into our local economy. So thank you Show Biz Kids!
