It's a DONE DEAL !

That's right - after a tri-party negotiation that took the better part of a year, in a few months the 25 year young San Francisco institution Beale Street Bar & Grill will be relocating. In the picture below that's me and Tony, proprietor of BSBG, celebrating the turn over of the lease.

Why move? Well, BSBG has to relocate to make way for the Transbay Transit Center project, San Francisco's most ambitious development plan in decades if not for all time.

With a loyal clientele it was important for BSBG to relocate somewhere close-by and 142 Minna Street, about a half mile away, was as close as it got.

For those of you who don't know Minna Street you should. Not only is one of the world's best museums (SFMOMA) around the corner but Minna Street is also home to Catherine Clark Gallery, Baer Ridgway Exhibitions and John Colins (another displaced business as a result of the Transbay project) which has been open for a couple of months and doing great.

Places like Beale Street Bar & Grill are authentic San Francisco and I know that at their new location they will not only bring their old clientele with them but gain a whole new clientele.

p.s. In my attempt to link a song that has some relevance to my blog post - and I know that sometimes (well, probably more often than not I stretch it) - I came up with this great song by the Easybeats. Enjoy!

Great news, Ross. I have fun memories of Beale Street from when I worked next door at what was Providian Financial. The atmosphere at Beale St. was refreshing compared to the stuffy corporate world.
