Last week I attended the annual retreat for Urban Solutions, a non profit economic development company, on whose board I proudly serve. Urban Solutions has done a fantastic job helping small business owners develop business plans, obtain financing and receive grants.As a result of Urban Solutions efforts many a dilapidated building facade down 6th Street from Market to Howard has metamorphasized into an attractive retail storefront. Similarly, in the Western Addition (think Fillmore Jazz District) they have helped many entrepreneurs open businesses or receive funding and grants to improve operations.
Urban Solutions contributes greatly towards preserving and enhancing the unique neighborhood characteristics that make San Francisco. Their GREEN BUSINESS PROGRAM provides reasonably priced consulting services to help shop owners "go green" - revenues from the program will be used to provide these services to businesses who could otherwise not afford them and that's a good thing for everyone.
